EVENTS PAVILION
Currently in pre-planning stage, GL Studio are working on the design for an events pavilion in an area of outstanding natural beauty and of significant historic importance.
In order that the new building does not compete with the relative grandeur of the adjacent historic ruins, it is conceived as a structure of subordinate importance, with a character more reminiscent of an agricultural building. In deliberate contrast to the aged masonry of the historic ruins it will be constructed from and clad in timber, which will age and gain its own patina over time. Sitting in a natural hollow in the landscape the building hugs the ground. Its organic roof form and gently undulating eaves help embed the structure in the land. Issues of sustainability will be addressed, including the incorporation of passive heating and cooling technologies.
KNIGHTSBRIDGE 02
Currently in its construction phase and due for completion mid 2023, this property in Knightsbridge has required the required the retention of a historic arts and crafts façade and the demolition and rebuild of the house behind it. GL Studio have worked closely with this private client to design a state-of-the-art family home, incorporating carefully considered historical references to the building’s heritage whilst including all requirements for contemporary city living.
ST JOHN’S WOOD
Currently in its construction phase and due for completion at the end of 2022, this substantial property has been extensively enlarged and completely refurbished both internally and externally. GL Studio have been responsible for all architectural, interior and landscape design, creating a completely holistic and cohesive family home for a private client.
